Performance Testing Playground

Performance is a distribution, not a number. Drive the load up and watch latency percentiles, throughput, and error rate move — then make a budget (thresholds) decide whether the run passes.

The same idea powers tools like k6, where thresholds turn performance budgets into CI gates.

Load profile (server capacity ≈ 80 VUs)

p99

Budget (thresholds)

  • p95 latency (ms)actual: 404✓
  • error rateactual: 0✓
  • throughput (req/s)actual: 183.3✓
✓ Budget met — this run passes its SLOs.
